This is the third blog in our series that explores the mystical path to our soul. To view the previous blogs, go to Cate’s Corner on my website.
In The Seeker’s Journey card deck, there are 7 Key Cards that help us navigate the mystical path to our soul. The Key Cards are easy to identify because there is a key on the artwork. I call these cards our spiritual superpowers because without their grace and wisdom, we cannot make the spiritual journey.
The 7 Key Cards in these blogs are presented in the order that best reflects how the spiritual journey unfolds. Each card shares with us a life-changing power. They help us shift into a liminal space of unknowing where our transformation can begin, or they invite us to commune directly with the Divine.
When you grasp the essence of a Key Card, the key turns and illuminates a scared truth, insight, or wisdom for you. Mystics and spiritual teachers tell us these are the foundational practices and mystical tools required to awaken and develop our spiritual consciousness. They also align with our seven chakra energy centers.
The first two Key Cards featured in the last blog were Prayer and Meditation. They are superpowers because they are the best spiritual practices to help us open and communicate with the Divine.
The third Key Card is Surrender. Explore the artwork on this card and the affirmation at the bottom. If you want more details on the artwork and symbolism of this card, watch the short video at the end of this blog or in the Newsletter.
Let go. Allow life to work through you.
You are trying too hard to control everything in your life. Break through the chains of your ego that cause you to suffer. These are your old stories, thoughts, perceptions, and emotions that keep you stuck in patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. Surrender is accepting each moment just as it is. Release all your problems, fears, situations, and relationships to the Divine. Surrender is not about giving up; it is opening and acknowledging a new awareness within your being. It is your capacity to trust in a deeper wisdom, guidance, and a power greater than you.
Surrender is an act of awakening.
As seekers, we have faith in the Divine or a higher power that is greater than us. We trust in, and surrender to, the divine intelligence that connects everyone and everything in the universe.
Surrender is an inside job and suffering is our teacher. Unhappiness and suffering inevitably lead us to surrender because it is the only way to stabilize and balance the well-being of our body, mind, and spirit. When we surrender to a power greater than us, the stories and situations that caused us so much pain in the past now become opportunities for us to grow. We break through the chains of our ego and discover who we are beyond our conditioned mind, attitudes, perceptions, and emotions.
Surrender means acceptance, and acceptance refers to the present moment. When we surrender, we accept each moment just as it is. In the present moment there is nothing we need to do, fix, or become, and we release our need to control the events and outcomes in our life.
The more we trust the energy of surrender, the more power and freedom we experience from the thoughts, emotions and perceptions that caused us so much pain. Surrender gives us the clarity to see beyond our external wants and needs and to trust our next step will be illuminated for us at just the right time. We begin to align and flow with the deeper current of life
We all feel the need for certainty in our lives, but consciousness invites us to surrender to the wisdom of uncertainty. It is only through becoming comfortable with not knowing that our mind subsides, and we find ourselves in this alert presence. It is in the wisdom of the unknown that we tap into deeper levels of creativity, intuition, intelligence, and infinite possibilities. These and other capacities that we sense but cannot physically see are essential for our evolution. They drive us to create the things we want and make new discoveries that we need to survive and thrive in our world.
Surrender
Surrender is a spiritual superpower because it is the bridge between our five sensory physical world and the mystical world of our spiritual senses. It connects our personal power (third chakra) with the flow and will of the Divine (fifth chakra). We surrender our personal agenda and align with the sacred contract of our soul.
Surrender invites us to step into the stillness of our being and the mystery of the unknown. It is a natural and required step on our path to spiritual awakening.
The surrender key turns when we release everything to the Divine that is causing us pain and suffering. We trust the grace of wisdom will lead us into the present moment and guide our thoughts and emotions toward the wisest course of action in each moment.
In The Seeker’s Journey deck, the Surrender card is listed under the Mystical Tools category. Mystical tools are capacities we can all experience, but they are not something we physically command or control. They are gifts from our soul that allow us to embrace the mystery and magic of the unknown.
Ready to release all your problems and fears?
